Designed for everyone: colour, shape and motion

Published 12 October 2026 · 2 min read

A puzzle game should challenge your mind, not your colour vision or how steady your hands are. From the first day of designing Vdopa we set a few rules so that as many people as possible can play comfortably.

Colour is never the only clue

Many people see some colour pairs differently, for example finding red and green hard to tell apart. Puzzles in Vdopa therefore never rely on colour alone:

  • In symbol sequences every button differs in both shape and colour: circle, triangle, square, diamond, star and cross. You can always remember the shapes and ignore the colours.
  • Each rotating ring has its own knob colour, but the rings also have different sizes, so you can tell them apart by position.
  • When a mechanism is solved, the letters turn gold with a glow and appear in the found-code strip; you never need to tell colours apart to know you succeeded.

Respecting “reduce motion”

Some people feel dizzy or uncomfortable with shaking or heavy motion. Most operating systems offer a “Reduce motion” option, and Vdopa reads it automatically. When it is on:

  • the screen does not shake on a wrong code; it flashes red briefly instead;
  • bounces and movement animations are reduced or removed;
  • celebration confetti is toned down.

Buttons big enough for fingers

Every tappable control in the game meets recommended touch-target sizes. Even the eyes in hidden-object puzzles, drawn smaller on deep floors, always have a tappable area of at least 48 pixels.

No timer you can lose to

Single-player has no timer that makes you fail. Players who need more time, for whatever reason, can clear every puzzle just the same; time only affects the third star. Every puzzle also offers one magnifier, so no puzzle can keep you stuck forever.

Two languages, easy to read

The game and website are available in Thai and English and you can switch at any time. Thai text in the game breaks lines at word boundaries instead of mid-word, and the font is chosen to read well on small screens.

Plenty left to do

We know there is more to improve, such as adjustable text size, a high-contrast mode and screen-reader support inside the game; they are on our roadmap. If you have a specific need we should care about, tell us. We want this mansion to open its doors to everyone.
